The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown describes what it is like to live a wholehearted life. Courage, compassion, and connection are needed in order for people to live wholehearted lives. They need courage to be vulnerable. They need compassion for themselves and for others. They need to make connections with others in order to both give and receive with an open heart.

Latin for “sacred reading,” “divine reading,” or “holy reading,” is a spiritual practice that has been in use for over a thousand years. It was originally practiced by monks who spent a large portion of their days praying and reading Scripture. While reading they noticed that at times individual words, phrases, or verses seemed to leap off of the page with a special personal importance.
It is an intentional practice that involves refection, deep listening to Scripture and to each other, patience and faith that God will reveal something new to us.
